...SIGNIFICANT WINTRY WEATHER POSSIBLE BY SUNDAY INTO MONDAY...
MUCH COLDER AIR IN PLACE ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY AND SOUTHERN
APPALACHIANS WILL BE A FACTOR...AS TWO WEATHER SYSTEMS DEVELOP AND
AFFECT THE REGION OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
THE FIRST SYSTEM WILL BE AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPING JUST
OFF THE SOUTHEAST ATLANTIC COAST TONIGHT...THEN TRACKING NORTH
ACROSS GEORGIA AND THE CAROLINAS. THIS SYSTEM SHOULD ONLY PRODUCE A
CHANCE OF LIGHT WINTRY PRECIPITATION MAINLY ON THURSDAY...AND
GENERALLY JUST FOR SOUTHERN AND EASTERN MOST AREAS. IN FACT...MOST
IF NOT ALL OF THE SIGNIFICANT PRECIPITATION COULD STAY EAST OF THE
AREA.
A STRONGER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM MAY DEVELOP OVER THE LOWER
MISSISSIPPI VALLEY ON SUNDAY...AND THEN TRACK NORTHEAST TOWARD THE
SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS SYSTEM WOULD DRAW MUCH
MORE GULF MOISTURE NORTHWARD INTO THE REGION...WITH COLD AIR STILL
MUCH IN PLACE. THIS WOULD CREATE AT LEAST THE POTENTIAL FOR A
SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION...LASTING INTO MONDAY.
HOWEVER...ACTUAL WINTRY TYPES AND AMOUNTS OF PRECIPITATION WILL
DEPEND ON THE TRACK...STRENGTH AND TIMING OF THIS SYSTEM...WHICH MAY
ALL CHANGE SOME OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THUS...YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER
SERVICE SUGGESTS THAT YOU STAY TUNED FOR LATER STATEMENTS AND
FORECASTS AS THE WEEKEND DRAWS CLOSER.
Here's hoping this thing takes a good track and dumps all snow or rain, and not what some of the earlier model runs had been showing with ice. They're showing some hefty amounts of snow I might add too. It's looking better with every run too (not to mention they've been consistent).
I just hope its not like what hit OK...I saw it on the news last night...It looks pretty bad there.

I wouldn't mind seeing a good snow. A nice one that hangs around a few days would be pretty and honestly, a few cold days wouldn't hurt things as far as insects and such.
That being said...no ice..ice sucks

Well yeah but I'd still most likely have to get from point A to point B.
I just miss seeing a good snow now and then.

yep it's looking pretty good now... 100% chance tomorrow, and 70% tomorrow night w/ freezing rain
could get nasty out... be careful folks!
heh, the day after I posted this everything started looking different, a little warmer and faster too. Should've known, as usual, they end up farther north and pulling in more "warmer" air.
Hopefully the warmer air comes in pretty quick to change the ice over to rain before it causes any serious problems, looks like it will though.
Anyway, as for now....

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 3 PM SUNDAY.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN OVER THE ADVISORY AREA LATE
TONIGHT AS LIGHT SNOW...THEN GRADUALLY CHANGE TO LIGHT SLEET...AND
THEN TO FREEZING RAIN. SOME LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF AN INCH OR
TWO WILL BE POSSIBLE INITIALLY...MAINLY OVER SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.
SOME LIGHT ICE ACCUMULATIONS...AROUND A TENTH OF AN INCH OR LESS...
WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE BY SUNDAY MORNING...MAINLY ON TREES AND OTHER
ELEVATED SURFACES. ROADS MAY BECOME ICY IN SPOTS...MAINLY ON
BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON...TEMPERATURES ARE
EXPECTED TO RISE ABOVE FREEZING...AND THE PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY
BECOME ALL RAIN.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW...SLEET...AND
FREEZING RAIN ARE EXPECTED...BUT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE
LIGHT. DRIVING AND WALKING MAY BE DIFFICULT ON UNTREATED ROADWAYS
AND SIDEWALKS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW AND ICE COVERED ROADS AND
LIMITED VISIBILITIES. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL...SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW
EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.
Rain forecast for tomorrow afternoon. Should clear it all up, barring changes to the forecast.
